Uvularia grandiflora
- Giant Merrybells |
One of our many
US Native Plants.
Called 'grandiflora' because it does have
the largest bloom in the genus.
Wonderful twisting foliage as it unfurls
in spring.
Foliage is a nice bright yellow green and
the leaf is perfoliated -- appears to be pierced by the stem.
Blue Delphinium
tricorne is a nice companion.
Did you know American Indians historically
used Uvularia grandiflora topically, as a root tea wash or as a
poultice from the upper plant, for rheumatic pains and sore muscles.
And it prefers limey soil but will take acid.
