Sanguinaria canadensis - Bloodroot

We just love the way the foliage appears to wrap itself around the stem in a protective hug as the bloom opens. Oh-h-h-h-h-h... how sweet!
		Did you know? Unmarried males of the Ponca Indian tribe used the juice of Bloodroot as a love charm, by applying it to the palms of their hands and then shaking hands with the female they wanted to marry. Within 5 or 6 days, the woman would be willing. (Or so they say!)
