This plant's oil is high in
Thymol, an antiseptic and local anesthetic used in mouthwash,
toothpaste, liniments and lip balms. Thymol, now produced
synthetically, used to be derived from the Thyme plant. During
WWI, the European Thyme fields were destroyed and US Native Monarda
punctata replaced Thyme as a source for Thymol!
