Osmunda claytonia is called Interrupted
Fern because the fertile fronds are in the middle of the stem and when
they release their spores and shrivel, their is an interruption in the
frond. The arrow above point to the attractive 'shriveled'
frond.
To the casual observer, this appears to be
a Cinnamon Fern.
